Set Friendship Boundaries in Nomi
Use this guide to prepare a friendship boundary note. It is based on Nomi’s documentation, reviewed September 15, 2026. We have not tested the app interface or the example below.
What the documentation confirms
Nomi describes Boundaries as an editable part of Backstory+ for stating what is or is not welcome. Its wiki suggests including a preferred alternative. Source: Nomi Boundaries documentation.
That documents a place for preferences. It does not establish that every reply will respect them.
Draft a boundary note
Original editorial example:
Keep our conversations friendly and platonic. I would like to discuss cooking and puzzle games. Avoid pet names, romantic scenarios, and sexual roleplay. If the conversation drifts, ask a question about our topic instead.
Change the topics to match your interests before using the note. You can also build a shorter instruction and edit the result. Keep personal details out unless you deliberately choose to share them with the service.
Check for conflicting instructions
Read the descriptions and notes you have written. If one calls the character a romantic partner while another asks for friendship, decide which description matches your current goal and edit your own wording accordingly.
This is a consistency check on your instructions. It is not a claim about how Nomi prioritizes notes or resolves conflicts internally.
If the field looks different
Return to the official source above for the current description. We have not verified a menu path, plan requirement, or interface version. If the field is missing from your view, that alone does not establish why it is unavailable.
Review the next reply
If you choose to continue, read the next response and judge whether it respects your preferences. You can stop without trying another correction. For an unwelcome response, use the troubleshooting guide.
Optional external service
Opening WantYou is separate from editing Nomi and is not a verified fix for unwanted flirting.
WantYou is an 18+ service with romantic and adult content. We have not verified a romance-free mode. Your prompt is not sent to WantYou. All guides and tools
