Keep Replika Conversations Friendly
This guide explains two documented controls to consider when you want a friendly conversation. Sources were reviewed September 15, 2026; the app interface and outcomes have not been tested.
Check relationship status
Replika lists Friend as a relationship option. Review your selected relationship against that option using its official relationship-status instructions. Follow the current help page if your interface differs; this guide is not a verified screen-by-screen walkthrough.
A relationship label is not proof that future replies will avoid romance.
Review saved memories
If the conversation assumes a romantic history you do not want, consider reviewing relevant saved entries. Replika documents viewing and removing individual entries through Memory. Source: Replika’s memory help.
Read an entry fully before deciding to remove it. Remove it only if you want that particular entry gone. There is no need to delete unrelated memories as part of this guide.
Memory is not chat history
The cited removal action concerns a saved entry. It does not establish that your chat history, account data, or every trace of context will be deleted. It also does not establish a reset for romantic behavior.
State your preferred name and tone
Original editorial correction:
Please use neutral forms of address. I want a friendly conversation about our topic, without flirting or an assumed romantic relationship.

If the tone persists
Use the troubleshooting guide if you want to review your options. You can stop without making more changes. Repeated unwanted replies do not create an obligation to keep correcting them.
